![]() It took me twice as long to finish this story as I had anticipated – which kind of sucked. A combination of Curzon being the main character and the Revolutionary Warfront being the main plot/setting left me often feeling disinterested. I think that’s why this novel felt very long to me. ![]() ![]() I did not have a strong connection to him from the first novel, so as I read and realized the entire novel was about him and from his perspective, I quickly became discouraged and lost some motivation. I adored Chains, recommending it to several of my peers, and was excited to see what this sequel had in store for one of my favorite protagonists, Isabel. Review: I was super stoked to read this novel. The two young black people now must work together to break away from their chains and forge their own destinies. However, halfway through the winter, Curzon encounters his former master, who provides Curzon with a job and, in doing so, reunites him with Isabel – his slave. Curzon has enlisted in the Continental Army as a free man, and with his regiment, he endures a grueling winter at Valley Forge waiting for battle to begin. ![]() Summary: Curzon and Isabel have parted ways to chase after their own heart’s desires. ![]()
